I am sure that you are all aware that preparations for the Christmas performance are now in full swing. The dress rehearsal will take place on Tuesday 11th December. The afternoon performance is on Wednesday 12th December at 2.30pm, with the evening performance taking place on Thursday 13th December 6.00pm. As in previous years, the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are to be the stars of our Christmas production.
After Wednesday afternoon’s performance, the children will be changed and sent home with their costumes. For Thursday evening’s performance, we would like the children to be back at school promptly by 5.50pm (dressed in their costumes). Could the children also bring a change of clothing for after the performance to go home in – thank you.
Children in Years 3/4/5/6 will have the opportunity to see the nativity during school time on the Tuesday morning. Due to the popularity of the Christmas production, both the afternoon and evening performances are extremely busy and we would be grateful, therefore, if older children who have already seen the performance could refrain from attending again in the evening.
The hall is always very full for the evening performance so, if possible, I would be grateful if as many people as possible could take advantage of the Wednesday afternoon performance. Please remember to park in Crayke Sports Hall on both occasions to ease the traffic congestion and enter the school via the front entrance. Please bring a torch for the evening session…
Fire Safety Procedures during School Events
Although fires are thankfully a very rare occurrence in schools, everyone needs to be aware of what to do in an emergency situation. This section is to inform you of what to do in the event of a fire or power cut during a school event such as the Christmas performance or a parents’ evening.
If everyone is in the school hall for an event and there is an emergency, then the two hall doors that lead on to the playground are for parents to use to exit the building. If you are in a classroom, then please exit by the nearest exit point, which will be one of the following:
Class 1’s cloakroom exit (Mrs. Sheppard’s)
Class 2’s cloakroom exit
The assembly point for everyone is the school playground. The pupils will leave via the front entrance, Class 1 and the junior cloakroom doors. Children will be evacuated from the school by the school staff. The children must assemble outside in their class lines, so that they can all be accounted for. Parents should go and stand with their children. I must stress the importance of keeping children in their class lines; so that staff can do a head count.
There will be torches sited at various points in the hall for staff and Fire Stewards to use in the event of a power cut. These will be used to guide people to the exits and to the assembly point.
