Class 3 Visit to Lotherton Hall

On Tuesday 26th March, Class 3 visited Lotherton Hall near Leeds as part of their science topic and met Dee and Steve who helped us to learn more.  We have been looking at electricity, and whilst on our visit we found out about how the arrival of electricity at Lotherton Hall many years ago divided opinion. For some it was a positive experience and made their working lives easier, but for others it was considered a danger to life. To the Gascoigne family, who owned the house, it was a great way to show off their wealth.

Steve helped us to make simple models of rooms that contained a small battery and an LED and we were able to take them home with us.

Finally we had time to look at the fascinating garden with its impressive range of birds before setting off back to school.  We particularly enjoyed seeing the talking cockatoo!
